He graduated in 2002 with distinction and immediately sought experience beyond standard general practice, working for three years in Maxillo-Facial Surgery at acute hospital trusts in East Kent and Poole.
That surgical experience gave him confidence and precision handling complex cases that might worry other general dentists. It’s one of the reasons patients with complicated dental histories or previous treatment failures often get referred to us, Dr Banvir has seen and successfully treated situations that would be outside many dentists’ comfort zones.
After returning to general practice, he didn’t settle into routine dentistry. He completed a Certificate in Implants in 2012, giving him specialist qualifications in tooth replacement. In 2015, he earned his MSc in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry from the University of Manchester, focusing on both the science and artistry of creating beautiful, functional smiles.
Ask Dr Banvir what matters most in his work and he’ll talk about listening before doing. Many patients arrive with complicated dental histories, previous bad experiences, or significant anxiety about treatment. His approach is straightforward: understand what you want to achieve, explain what’s realistically possible, and create a plan together that fits your timeline and budget.
He’s particularly skilled with nervous patients. Several people have told us they avoided dentists for years, sometimes decades, before finding A1 Dental. They’re now regular attendees who actually don’t dread their appointments. That transformation doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through patience, clear communication, and genuine respect for people’s fears.

Beyond Dentistry: When he’s not at the practice, Dr Banvir enjoys spending time with his family exploring Kent’s countryside and coastline.
