Dental Finance in Canterbury

Quality dental care shouldn’t be out of reach because of upfront costs. Spread your treatment investment with 0% interest finance up to 12 months, or extended payment plans up to 5 years. We’ll help you find a way to afford the treatment you need.

Making Essential Treatment Affordable Now

We’ve watched patients delay essential treatment for years because they couldn’t afford the full cost upfront. A root canal gets put off. Implants remain a distant dream. Invisalign feels impossible. Meanwhile, dental problems worsen and eventually cost even more to fix.

Here’s the reality. Saving £3,000 for Invisalign whilst working full-time and managing living expenses could take years. By the time you’ve saved enough, your teeth have shifted further and treatment becomes more complex.

Finance lets you start treatment now whilst spreading the investment over time. For treatments up to £1,500, you can use 0% interest finance and pay exactly the treatment cost with nothing more added. For larger treatments or longer repayment periods, extended payment plans up to 5 years are available.

The same logic applies to dental implants, smile makeovers, or any significant dental investment. Getting treatment done properly now often prevents bigger problems and bigger costs down the line.

Spread Costs With 0% Interest Finance

We offer interest-free finance for private treatments through trusted finance providers. Spread your investment over 6-12 months and pay exactly the treatment cost with zero additional charges.

How it works:

1. Get your treatment plan and quote
During your consultation (free for major treatments), we examine your mouth and provide a detailed written quote showing exactly what your treatment will cost.

2. Choose your repayment term
Decide whether you want to spread payments over 6, 9, or 12 months. Longer terms mean lower monthly payments. Shorter terms mean you’re finished paying sooner.

3. Apply online
Complete a simple online application (takes about 5 minutes). Most decisions are instant.

4. Start treatment
Once approved, we can often begin treatment at your next appointment.

5. Automatic monthly payments
Payments come out via direct debit on a date you choose each month.

0% finance example calculations:

Treatment Cost6 Months9 Months12 Months
£600£100/month£67/month£50/month
£1,200£200/month£133/month£100/month
£1,500£250/month£167/month£125/month

Important details: Credit checks are required. Approval isn’t guaranteed but our finance partners consider varied financial situations. Early repayment is allowed without penalties. Missed payments damage your credit rating. 0% interest finance typically available for treatments up to £1,500 over 6-12 months.

Extended Payment Plans

For larger treatments or patients who need longer repayment periods, we offer extended payment plans up to 5 years through our finance partners.

How extended finance works:

Extended plans are available for treatments over £1,000 and can be spread over 2, 3, 4, or 5 years. These plans do carry interest charges (rates vary based on credit assessment), but they make major dental work genuinely affordable by spreading costs over a longer period.

Extended finance example calculations:

Treatment Cost2 Years3 Years4 Years5 Years
£2,189 (single implant)£100/month*£70/month*£55/month*£45/month*
£3,500 (smile makeover)£160/month*£110/month*£85/month*£70/month*
£5,000 (multiple implants)£230/month*£155/month*£120/month*£100/month*

*Approximate monthly payments including interest. Exact rates depend on credit assessment.

When extended plans make sense:

  • Dental implants (£2,189+ per tooth)
  • Multiple CEREC crowns (£650+ each)
  • Full smile makeovers (£3,000-£8,000+)
  • Invisalign treatment (£1,800+)
  • Complex restorative work

Extended plans turn major dental investments into manageable monthly payments that fit your budget. Yes, you’ll pay some interest over the longer term, but you get your treatment completed now rather than waiting years whilst problems potentially worsen.

Important details: Interest rates vary based on individual credit assessment. Early repayment allowed (you’ll save on interest). Credit checks required. Terms and conditions apply.

Direct Payment Arrangements

For patients who prefer not using finance companies or don’t get approved for third-party finance, we can sometimes arrange direct payment plans through the practice.

How this works: We agree on a payment schedule that fits your budget. You pay in instalments directly to us rather than through a finance company. This approach is more flexible and doesn’t involve credit checks or formal loan agreements.

Example scenarios:

Treatment costing £1,200: Pay £200 per month for six months, or £150 per month for eight months.

Treatment costing £3,000: Pay £500 upfront, then £250 per month for 10 months. Or pay nothing upfront and £300 per month for 10 months.

Treatment costing £800: Pay £200 per month for four months, or spread it over six months at £133 per month.

We’re genuinely flexible. If you need to skip a month due to unexpected expenses or want to pay more some months to finish faster, we’ll accommodate where possible.

Availability: Direct payment plans are considered case by case. We generally offer them for established patients, treatment between £500 and £5,000, patients who don’t qualify for traditional finance, and situations where direct arrangements make more sense.

This isn’t advertised widely because we can’t offer it to everyone. But if standard finance options don’t work for your situation, ask during your consultation at our Canterbury practice on London Road. We’ll do our best to find a solution.

Phased Treatment Approach

Sometimes the most practical approach is treating problems in phases spread over time, paying for each stage as you go rather than financing the entire treatment plan upfront.

How phased treatment works:

During your consultation, we create a comprehensive treatment plan addressing all your dental needs. Then we prioritise treatments into phases.

Phase 1: Urgent and essential – Address pain, infection, or problems that will worsen rapidly. Pay for Phase 1, complete it, then reassess when you’re ready financially for Phase 2.

Phase 2: Important but stable – Replace missing teeth, crown weak teeth, or address functional problems. Complete Phase 2 weeks or months after Phase 1 when budget allows.

Phase 3: Cosmetic refinements – Whitening, veneers, bonding, or straightening. Finish Phase 3 when you’re ready, whether that’s months or years after earlier phases.

Benefits: Manageable costs, time to save between phases, flexibility as your financial situation changes, and prioritised care ensuring essential work gets done immediately.

Example phased treatment:

Patient needs: Two teeth extracted (painful, infected), three fillings (moderate decay), two crowns (large old fillings at fracture risk), teeth whitening (aesthetic desire).

Phase 1 (Month 1): £400 – Extract two infected teeth, place temporary partial denture. Immediate pain relief.

Phase 2 (Month 3): £600 – Complete three fillings whilst saving for Phase 3.

Phase 3 (Month 6): £1,400 – Crown two at-risk teeth to prevent future fractures.

Phase 4 (Month 10): £440 – Whiten teeth for the smile you’ve always wanted.

Total: £2,840 spread over 10 months in affordable chunks rather than £2,840 required upfront or financed all at once.

You could finance each phase individually if preferred, or pay as you go. Complete flexibility.

Using Your Dental Insurance

We accept most major dental insurance plans including Bupa Dental Care, AXA PPP Healthcare, Aviva, Vitality Health, WPA, Simply Health, and other major providers.

How to use your insurance:

  1. Check your policy to understand what’s covered
  2. Book your consultation and mention you have dental insurance
  3. We’ll provide an itemised treatment plan you can submit for pre-approval
  4. We can bill your insurance company directly for covered items, or you pay upfront and claim reimbursement

Important insurance realities: Policies vary dramatically. Annual limits are common (often £500-£1,500). Cosmetic treatments are rarely covered. You’re ultimately responsible if your insurer doesn’t pay as expected. Get pre-approval for major work to avoid surprises.

Many patients combine insurance with finance. Your insurance covers part of the cost, then you finance the remaining balance. This reduces your monthly payments significantly.

Why Canterbury Patients Trust Us

Care Tailored to Your Needs

We take the time to understand your medical history, assess your dental health, and create a treatment plan that works for your budget and timeline. Your smile is your story, and every story deserves individual attention.

Internationally-Trained Expertise

Dr Banvir's MSc in Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry represents specialist-level training you'd typically need referrals to access. His three years working in Maxillo-Facial Surgery means he's handled complex cases most general dentists never see.

Technology That Actually Makes a Difference

Digital X-rays with minimal radiation. Intraoral cameras so you can see exactly what we're seeing. Comprehensive record-keeping that tracks changes over time. We invest in technology because it genuinely improves your experience and treatment outcomes.

Over 30 Years Serving Canterbury

Generations of Canterbury families have trusted us with their dental health. That kind of loyalty doesn't come from flashy marketing. It comes from delivering quality care consistently over decades.

A Safe Space for Anxious Patients

Dental anxiety is far more common than you think. We work at your pace, explain everything before we begin, and create an environment where you feel in control. Many of our most nervous patients now attend regular check-ups without that familiar dread.

Don't Let Cost Delay Essential Care

The worst thing you can do is avoid treatment because of cost concerns, letting problems worsen until they become emergencies requiring far more expensive solutions.

Early intervention almost always costs less than delayed emergency treatment. That small cavity today becomes a root canal next year. The missing tooth you put off replacing causes bone loss making future implants more difficult and costly.

Take the first step:

Call 01227 765 851 to discuss payment options for your situation. Our reception team can provide initial guidance and book your consultation.

Book a free consultation for major treatments (implants, Invisalign, smile makeovers, extensive work). We’ll examine your mouth, provide treatment plans and costs, and explain every payment option available.

New patients: Call 01227 765 851 to register and discuss finance options.

Existing patients: Book online, call, or speak to reception about financing your treatment.

We’ll find a way to make your treatment affordable. That’s a promise.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Finance

Initial applications use "soft searches" that don't affect your credit score. Only if you proceed with the finance agreement does a "hard search" occur, which does impact your credit score slightly. This is standard for any credit application (mortgages, car finance, credit cards). One or two hard searches have minimal impact on your score.

If third-party finance companies decline your application, we can explore alternatives including direct payment plans through the practice, phasing treatment over time to reduce upfront costs, or discussing Denplan membership to spread routine care costs. We'll find a solution that works for your situation.

Yes, with no penalties. If your financial situation improves and you want to clear the balance early, you can do so. You'll only pay for the time you've actually used the finance with no early repayment fees.

Missed payments damage your credit rating and may incur late payment charges from the finance company. This is why we strongly recommend setting up direct debits so payments happen automatically. If you're struggling financially and anticipate missing payments, contact the finance company immediately to discuss options.

0% interest finance is available for treatments typically up to £1,500 spread over 6-12 months. You pay exactly the treatment cost with zero interest added—for example, a £1,200 treatment costs exactly £1,200 whether you pay upfront or over 12 months at £100/month. Extended payment plans are available for larger treatments (£1,000+) and can be spread over 2-5 years. These longer plans do carry interest charges that vary based on your credit assessment, but they make major dental work like implants or smile makeovers genuinely affordable by reducing monthly payments significantly.

Most applications receive instant decisions. Some require manual review, which takes 1-2 working days. You'll need proof of identity, proof of address, employment details, and bank account details for direct debit.

Yes, absolutely. Many patients use their dental insurance to cover part of the treatment cost, then finance the remaining balance. For example, if your insurance covers £500 toward a £1,200 crown, you can finance the remaining £700 over 12 months at around £58 per month.

Almost any private dental treatment over £500 can be financed including dental implants, Invisalign and orthodontics, crowns and bridges, veneers and cosmetic bonding, smile makeovers, dentures, and root canal treatment. Emergency treatments under £500 are typically better paid upfront.

For finance agreements, contact the finance company immediately if you anticipate difficulties making payments. They may be able to restructure your agreement. For direct payment plans through the practice, speak to us. We'll try to accommodate changes where possible. Communication is key.

Finance companies don't publish specific minimum credit scores. They consider your overall financial situation including credit history, income, employment status, and existing debt. Previous credit problems don't automatically mean rejection. Our finance partners work with varied financial profiles.

Our practice is centrally located on London Road in Canterbury (near Canterbury East Station with on-site parking and free parking on Temple Road), making regular appointments convenient whether you're local or travelling from Deal, Dover, or Ramsgate.
