Genuinely the best thing I have ever done was get Invisalign. Som was amazing and so lovely from start to finish and so were all the other dentists/nurses/receptionists ♡ I was estimated 15 months of Invisalign but was done in about 5/6! They are PERFECT. I never used to smile with my teeth, and now I never smile without. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart ❤️Posted on robert febrerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our Dentist, Juliette always makes us feel at ease and is great with the children.Posted on Peter OwensTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I visited A1 for a front tooth implant. From beginning to end I received absolutely brilliant service. The whole process was explained to me in detail, including the process, timing and cost. The cost was in fact slightly less than the estimate, which in this day and age is extremely unusual. The implant was finished today and is excellent. I would strongly recommend A1, they are superb.Posted on Frank LamdinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Incredible experience. Persistent, throbbing pain that won’t respond to over-the-counter painkillers indicates infection or deep decay needing urgent treatment. The pain may radiate to your jaw, ear, or head. You might struggle to sleep, eat, or concentrate
Trauma from accidents, falls, sports injuries, or biting hard objects can fracture teeth. Even seemingly minor chips can expose sensitive inner tooth layers causing severe pain. Broken teeth with sharp edges can cut your tongue or cheek.
Time-critical emergency, call within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth. Find the tooth immediately. Hold it by the crown (white part), not the root. Rinse gently if dirty, don’t scrub. Contact us
Exposed tooth structure causes pain, sensitivity to hot/cold, and increased risk of infection. Food gets stuck in the cavity causing discomfort. Lost crowns leave vulnerable tooth stumps at risk of fracture.
Swollen, painful gum with pus indicates serious bacterial infection spreading from the tooth root. You might notice a bad taste, foul smell, swelling in your face or neck, fever, or general feeling of being unwell.
Swelling spreading from tooth to face, cheek, or neck is a sign infection is advancing rapidly. You might struggle to open your mouth fully, swallow comfortably, or the swelling might be affecting your eye or breathing.
Impacted wisdom teeth (partially erupted or growing at wrong angles) cause severe pain, swelling, difficulty opening your mouth, bad taste, and swollen gums. Food gets trapped around partially erupted wisdom teeth causing infection (pericoronitis).
Damaged dental appliances causing pain, difficulty eating, cuts to soft tissues, or embarrassment if front teeth are affected. We’ll repair dentures where possible, provide temporary solutions, or make arrangements for replacement.
Food, popcorn kernels, or foreign objects wedged tightly between teeth causing pain, swelling, or bleeding. Don’t force it with sharp objects, you risk damaging gums or pushing it deeper. We’ll remove it safely using dental instruments without causing further damage.
Persistent bleeding from tooth socket (after extraction), injured gums, or bitten tongue/cheek lasting more than 20 minutes despite firm pressure. While dental bleeding is rarely life-threatening, heavy persistent bleeding needs urgent assessment. We’ll identify the source and stop the bleeding.

No. We treat both registered and non-registered patients for dental emergencies at our Canterbury practice. If you're experiencing severe tooth pain, have broken a tooth, or developed a dental abscess, call 01227 765 851 regardless of whether you're registered with us. Emergency appointment costs £80 for non-registered patients (covered within standard fees for registered patients), plus treatment costs. Don't suffer in pain because you're not registered, we're here to help anyone experiencing dental emergencies in Canterbury and East Kent.
Yes, in most cases. We reserve emergency appointment slots every day specifically for urgent dental problems and see the majority of emergency cases same-day. Call 01227 765 851 as early as possible in the day for best same-day availability. Morning calls are typically seen the same morning or early afternoon. Afternoon calls are usually seen later the same day. We assess urgency over the phone and prioritize cases with severe pain, infection, trauma, or knocked-out teeth. Even if we can't see you within hours, we'll book you in as soon as possible, typically same day or next morning.
We're closed Saturdays and Sundays. For dental emergencies outside our opening hours (evenings, weekends, bank holidays), call NHS 111 for out-of-hours emergency dental services. They'll direct you to the nearest available emergency dentist in Kent. For life-threatening emergencies, severe facial swelling affecting breathing, uncontrollable bleeding, or suspected broken jaw, go to A&E immediately. Most dental emergencies can wait until our next opening (Monday morning if an emergency occurs Saturday/Sunday). Take over-the-counter painkillers, use cold compresses, and call us first thing Monday morning on 01227 765 851.
Emergency appointments cost £80 for non-registered patients (covered within standard fees for registered patients). Treatment costs depend on what's needed: tooth extractions from £150, emergency fillings from £130 (white) or £108 (amalgam), X-rays £18 each if clinically necessary, re-cementing crowns from £50. We provide clear written quotes before starting treatment so you know costs upfront. Emergency treatment requires payment on the day, we accept cash, debit card, credit card. 0% finance available for treatment over £500 (subject to credit assessment). Don't avoid treatment because of cost concerns, untreated emergencies worsen rapidly and become much more expensive.
Dental emergencies needing same-day treatment include: severe toothache not responding to over-the-counter painkillers, knocked-out tooth (time-critical, call within 30 minutes), broken or chipped teeth with exposed nerves causing pain, lost fillings or crowns leaving teeth sensitive and vulnerable, dental abscesses (swollen, painful gums with pus), facial swelling from tooth infection, wisdom tooth pain with swelling or infection, broken dentures or braces causing pain, uncontrolled bleeding from mouth, objects stuck between teeth causing pain. If unsure whether your situation is an emergency, call 01227 765 851, we'll assess urgency and advise whether you need same-day treatment or can wait for a routine appointment.
